Neeru Yadav 'Hockey Wali Sarpanch'

Neeru Yadav, known as the “Hockey Wali Sarpanch,” is a passionate advocate for social change and women's empowerment in Lambi Ahir, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. From an educated family in Narnaul, Haryana, Neeru surpassed her parents' aspirations by becoming the first young Sarpanch of her village. She formed a women's hockey team, funding playgrounds, equipment, and coaching from her salary, and organized inter-city and inter-state competitions, inspiring local women to break social constraints.

Neeru also focuses on education and skill development, training girls under the PMKVY Scheme and securing jobs for them in multinational companies. Her efforts earned her the chairmanship of the Farmers Producers Organization (FPO) appointed by NABARD, benefiting local farmers. Neeru's initiatives include free sanitary pads, health camps, skilling programs, and promoting banking awareness among women.

Her dedication extends to environmental efforts, such as the ‘Garbage Free Marriage Functions’ campaign, which provides steel utensils for events and converts food waste into manure. Recognized with the “Shiksha Shree” award, Neeru holds multiple degrees and is pursuing a PhD in Geography. Supported by her husband, Ashok Yadav, she leads over 50 women volunteers in various developmental programs. Neeru's ultimate goal is to prepare a women's hockey team for international tournaments, aiming to empower women and serve the nation.
