Swachh Bharat Mission Project – Cleanliness and Toilet Construction by Sarpanch Neeru Yadav, Lambi Ahir

Neeru Yadav is an active and dedicated Panchayat member of Lambi Ahir village, who has done many important works under Swachh Bharat Mission. Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) is a major initiative of the Government of India, which aims to improve sanitation and health across the country. Neeru Yadav successfully implemented this mission in his village and has brought positive changes in the lives of the village people. # Introduction to Swachh Bharat Mission Swachh Bharat Mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2 October 2014, on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The main objective of this mission is to make India open defecation free (ODF) and spread awareness about cleanliness. Under SBM, construction of toilets, solid and liquid waste management, and sanitation awareness programs are conducted in villages and cities. # Contribution of Neeru Yadav Neeru Yadav has done many important works in his village Lambi Ahir under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Following are the major works done by him: 1. Toilet Construction: Neeru Yadav got toilets constructed on a large scale to end the problem of open defecation in his village. By making proper use of the assistance received from the government, he achieved the target of constructing toilets in every house. Apart from this, he also got community toilets constructed, which benefited those families who could not afford private toilets. 2. Solid and Liquid Waste Management: Neeru Yadav implemented solid and liquid waste management system for proper management of waste in the village. They arranged for special vehicles and resources to collect and dispose of the garbage. Along with this, he trained the villagers to segregate organic and non-organic waste.
